Tissue-cultured aquatic plants, grown to arrive healthy
Tropica was founded in 1970 by Lars Pedersen near Aarhus, Denmark, and solved one of aquascaping's oldest headaches: plants that arrive carrying snail eggs, algae spores, or pest larvae from someone else's tank. Their 1-2-Grow! and Tropica Tissue Culture lines are propagated in sterile in-vitro gel cups rather than open ponds, so what you unbox is a clean, pest-free plant ready to go straight into a cycled aquarium.
Beyond the tissue-culture format, Tropica maintains one of the most detailed plant-care databases in the hobby — light demand, CO2 requirement, growth rate, and difficulty rating for essentially every species they sell. That's made them a default reference point for aquascapers deciding what will actually survive in a given setup, not just what looks good in a photo.
We carry Tropica for exactly that reliability: when a customer asks for a carpeting plant that will actually carpet, or a stem plant that tolerates a beginner's inconsistent CO2 dosing, Tropica's catalog is usually where we start looking.
