Product Overview
Seachem Purigen is not a mixture of ion exchangers or adsorbents, but a unique macro-porous synthetic polymer that removes soluble and insoluble impurities from water at a rate and capacity that exceeds all other competing products by over 500%.
Purigen controls ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates by removing nitrogenous organic waste that would otherwise release these harmful compounds. It is the ultimate chemical filtration media for aquarists seeking unparalleled, crystal-clear water clarity.
Key Benefits
Unmatched Clarity: Rapidly removes organic dyes and tannins (such as those leached from new driftwood), eliminating the yellow or brown tint in your water to provide a pristine, "fishes floating in air" look.
Controls Organic Waste: Targets and adsorbs soluble and insoluble organic compounds while leaving essential trace elements and plant nutrients untouched. Perfect for both high-tech planted tanks and delicate marine setups.
Exhaustion Indicator: No guesswork required. Purigen progressively changes color from an off-white/cream to a dark, deep brown as it filters, letting you know exactly when it has run its course.
Regenerable & Reusable: Highly cost-effective. Once it turns dark brown, it can be easily regenerated/recharged using a household bleach-and-water solution, restoring it to its original filtering capacity multiple times.
Specifications
Product Type: Premium Synthetic Adsorbent Resin
Media Type: Chemical Filtration
Application: Suitable for Freshwater, Planted, and Marine (Saltwater) Aquariums
Target Impurities: Nitrogenous organic waste, tannins, and water discoloration

How to Use
Placement: Rinse well before use. Place the media in a fine mesh filter bag (such as Seachem The Bag) and position it in an area of high water flow within your canister filter, sump, or hang-on-back filter.
Regeneration: When the resin darkens to a deep brown/black, soak it in a 1:1 bleach-to-water solution for 24 hours in a well-ventilated area. Rinse thoroughly, then soak for 8 hours with a high-quality dechlorinator (like Seachem Prime) to neutralize the bleach before reintroducing it to your aquarium.
Dhara Secure Delivery: Insulated container packaging protects glass, soil minerals and fragile equipment.
